Our Mission
Urban wilding is happening. Amazing projects are popping up in towns and cities across the world. The Urban Wilding Hub is the online home of this movement in Europe. Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of urban wilding so that communities across the continent can benefit from increased resilience to climate change, improved health and wellbeing and more nature contact in their daily lives. We also want towns and cities to be hubs of biodiversity and to promote coexistence between humans and other living beings.
We do this by building a community of wilding practitioners and advocates, sharing the learnings of successful wilding projects, amplifying their stories and empowering others to wild their urban places.
We operate across Europe, including the UK and Schengen area.
Urban Wilding Hub is a new informal organisation. We aim to become registered as a nonprofit in the coming months.
Who We Are
The Urban Wilding Hub was founded by Ross O’Ceallaigh. After several years working as an urban designer and educator, Ross became convinced of the need for deeper changes in our urban environments in response to the climate and biodiversity crisis. Inspired by pioneering urban wilding projects, and after speaking to the people behind them on the Green Urbanist podcast, Ross founded the Urban Wilding Hub to help accelerate this movement.
